Case study: reception video wall for a marine-sector client in Surrey
A prestigious client in the marine sector asked us for a feature video wall in their Surrey reception: big enough to make an impression on visitors, and simple for their staff to run day to day.
What we installed
- Philips video wall panels in a 3 x 2 layout (six screens)
- ATEN VanCryst VE8952 (VE8950 series) 4K HDMI over IP transmitters (VE8952T) and receivers (VE8952R) with PoE, one VE8952R receiver per screen
- An ATEN control system, so staff can switch sources without touching the hardware
Why AV over IP?
Sending video over the network means the sources don’t have to sit behind the wall. With a receiver on each panel, the wall can show one image across all six screens or different content on each, and more screens or sources can be added later without new long cable runs.
The kit
ATEN VanCryst VE8952T transmitters put each video source onto the network, and a VE8952R receiver drives each screen. Both are 4K HDMI over IP extenders with PoE, so each unit can take its power over the same network cable.
The ATEN system can show one image across the whole wall or different content on each screen, and supports walls of up to 8 x 8 displays, so there is plenty of room to grow.
Behind the wall
Each screen has its own labelled ATEN receiver, with the cabling dressed and secured so the system is easy to service later. The same approach scales from a six-screen reception wall to larger control-room and atrium displays.
