What is a smart building?

A smart building is a building that uses a range of smart sensors and smart technology to improve the experience of its users. Energy consumption and costs.

Audio Visual technology is now utilised as a major part of the integrated smart building experience, from audio announcements to touch panels, digital screens, and integrated information delivery.  

More and more sensors and more and more integration in the modern smart building / smart office is a lot more commonplace.

More IT systems now integrate with AV and security systems. Digital displays around the building can display different information to different groups of people.

Information Integration

Digital signage can be used for a lot more than just simple branded information display. It can show live data from smart thermostats, air quality sensors etc or attendance information from an access control system in the form of a pegboard, live TV from an IPTV system or even from smart temperature reading cameras.

Different content can be triggered from different user experiences or actions, such as emergency information from a fire alarm trigger, or different content triggered depending on who swipes an access control reader.

Even cleaning cycles can be booked based on information received from occupancy sensors. You can even use a touchscreen wayfinder to help yourself located your way around a building, or use a touch panel to book a meeting.
